The Elderberry harvest is now in and bottles on shelves!
We’ve been making Elderberry syrup, Elderberry Rob (spiced with fresh ginger, cloves and nutmeg) and Elderberry Fluster (the syrup fortified with a fluid extract of Echinacea purpurae root.
Elderberry Elixir is almost ready to bottle up. The Elderberries have been steeping in a kilner jar for a few weeks, soaked in Brandy and a local runny honey.
We’ve been drying out the berries too, both in the airing cupboard and in the oven on the lowest heat for a few hours. These methods are ok but i’m interested to invest in a dehydrator. These will be combined with other herbs such as Echinacea root, Rosehip shells, hibiscus flowers, cinnamon bark and so on to form a seasonal tea for the Autumn.
