NETTLE SYRUP
RECIPE

This is a good way to take your medicine for children or to make it more palatable. You can even mix it 50-50% with Nettle tincture . Useful for spring cleaning/detox, aneamia, fatigue, skin & joint problems, fluid retention, water infections & hay fever.

Ingredients:
50g Fresh Nettle tops
600ml water
80g or 160g cane sugar (depending on reduction), or you can use honey.

Method:
Place the nettles in the pan with the water and bring to the boil. Simmer for 20 minutes with the lid on the pan. Reduce your infusion to half or even a quarter of the amount by simmering again after straining and before sweetening. To each 600ml of juice add 325g of sugar/honey. Stir over a low heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Cool and bottle in sterilized bottles, label.
This is a 40-50% syrup, you can make a 65% one which will keep even better.

Dose: 1tsp 3-4 times daily.

Makes and Keeps:

Makes either 300ml or 150ml depending on the reduction. It will keep for 12 months but once opened must be refrigerated and consumed within 4 weeks. It’s sensible to use smaller bottles in this sense.
